This exciting new resource has been written to support and make relevant the teaching of the AQA Basic Skills Adult Literacy qualification at Levels 1 and 2. The three key literacy skills of Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening are integrated into all six categories as identified by AQA. All categories place importance on developing Speaking & Listening skills.

Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing are skills that are fundamental to everyday life. AQA’s Basic Skills Adult Literacy qualification is designed to develop these skills in order that individuals can function effectively and successfully both in their working and domestic lives.

The materials in this resource are designed to support learners and to help meet their everyday language requirements. They are based in real and relevant contexts to allow students to practice their skills in the safety of a classroom environment, allowing them to build their confidence so that they can transfer these skills into their home and workplace.

The resource has been constructed to ensure it is user friendly. Instructions are written in plain English which should allow a level of independent study, particularly at Level 2, where teacher input is reduced. Peer and self assessment are both key to student progress through these materials and plentiful opportunities are indicated for these activities to take place. A set of generic Self Evaluation Charts for each strand is included in a separate folder so that students can keep an overall record of their progress.

Once purchased, the CD can be freely copied and networked throughout the school.
