AS Psychology Research Methods for Unit 3 AQA (A) and Unit 1 AQA (B)

This resource has been developed to give students and teachers thorough understanding of AQA's knowledge requirements for research methods. There are 20 questions, which closely follow the format of the structured questions in the examination. A detailed mark scheme, enables students to gain deeper insight into how they should approach these questions and how to maximise marks.

The resource can be used as a self-contained unit to support student centred learning, or can be employed as support material for classroom teachers following the AQA's research method unit. The structured questions present stimulus material followed by a number of questions which challenge students' knowledge of the application of research methods in psychology, with particular reference to specification requirement, i.e. The nature and usage of research methods and how they relate to the scientific nature of psychology.

Experimental designs, hypotheses, variables, sampling, descriptive statistics and breaches of ethical guidelines are all covering in depth and detail in a variety of questions, interesting situations. The structured questions have a separate mark scheme which can be distributed to students for self directed learning, or retained by the teacher if the resource is to be employed as a classroom exercise as support material.

The resource would especially benefit psychology teachers new to the classroom or new to this examination, as well as needing more support teaching this conceptually difficult module.
