A Question of Maths is designed for pupils aged 9-13. It covers a variety of mathematical operations, ranging from addition to Imperial and Metric weights. All the exercises contained in the book are self-explanatory and most of them begin with extremely basic questions in order to boost pupils' confidence. The questions gradually increase in difficulty as it is assumed that once the individual mathematical concept has been understood, more complex questions may be attempted.

Students are encouraged to use their mental ability to attempt the exercises, particularly as certain of them are concerned with the 'real' world, as exemplified by the topics 'Money' and 'Time'. For younger students, however, some of the more difficult questions may necessitate the use of a calculator.

A Question of Maths is suitable for either classwork - to revise the particular topic being covered at the time - or homework - to test understanding of what has been learned. Care has been taken to ensure that the material caters for a wide range of mathematical aptitude. This resource will not only be useful to teachers, but inspirational and beneficial to pupils.
