Using Accelerated Learning Techniques, now available to schools as photocopiable booklets, they will be able to soon!

A crucial factor in Dyslexia is the inability to store and recall information. People have six basic eye-movements which operate at a subconscious level and play a major role in information intake, storage and recall - this includes blind people. The eye movements and this technique are based on the science of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). Ask a right-handed child to picture the back of their house and count the number of windows - they will look up to the left to retrieve this information. They will look up to the right if you ask them to create a picture, look across to the left to recall a sound and so on. Left-handed children will have the opposite movements. This eye movement ability is a fundamental skill required for learning.

Dyslexics, however, do not have these in-built eye-movements. Their eyes move about randomly as they attempt to go through these processes, as though looking for an item in a jumbled cupboard. The Internal Eyescan booklet suggests a programme of work to correct this problem and allow schools to help everyone, especially dyslexics, make a new start with reading and the recall of information. Having mastered the internal eyescan method it can be applied equally to any learning situation, such as tables, poetry verses, historical dates and French verbs.

Think of a deaf person speaking. Having never heard themselves speak, they are often unable to speak properly. Poor readers have exactly the same problem. Having never heard themselves read, they are unable to imagine how they would sound reading properly. The Repeat Reading technique allows this to happen. It is an extremely powerful tool - even the poorest reader can make progress to better than average within six to ten weeks - and uses books appropriate to the age of the reader. It's a simple and stress free method, based on the way we naturally talk, and simply quire another person for poor readers to interact with.
