This resource is a high quality resource written and designed for dyslexics by a dyslexia specialist to provide reading material suitable for dyslexics from KS2 through to KS4. It can also be used for other special needs pupils with a reading age from 8 onwards but with an interest through to KS4.

This resource is a follow-up to “Sandy” but can be read independently. It recognises the need for a pupil to feel the sense of achievement in being able to read a story to its conclusion.

There are worksheets provided together with answer sheets so that parents, teachers or L.S.A.s can offer relevant support to the reader. These worksheets are flexible in approach and can be used alongside each chapter or once the whole story is completed. It is also possible to ‘dip into’ them for the individual need of the reader.

Most Statements of Special Educational Need specify the requirement to develop skills such as learning strategies, development of sequential memory and organisational skills. These materials support these requirements and can be adapted towards a multi-sensory approach which is often advised.
