This material has been developed to help Key Stage 3 students in their Citizenship education, focusing on the issue of multi-culturalism. Topics covered include Identity, Gender, Age, Religion, Ethnic Origin and Physical Differences. Students are further encouraged to apply their learning to both their local community and also to the global community.

Relating closely to existing schemes of work, the material aims to provide a varied selection of activities that promote student participation. Active Learning strategies are encouraged by the provision of pair, group and Drama activities. Learning tasks are not highly word dependent, so the material provides opportunities for differentiation. A wide range of worksheets is included.

Clear opportunities are provided for self, peer and teacher assessment. Students are encouraged to set themselves targets for their learning on the basis of defined levels of achievement. This makes the material very user-friendly for teachers. The teacher's notes contain templates and master copies to easily administer this assessment.
