Pack F1 - Charles I

Introducing Britain's most tragic King, his family, his favourites and ministers and his personal defects which contributed enormously to the constitutional crisis of his reign. This series does not include events in North America (see E3), nor the Civil War and events leading to the King's execution (see F2). This series falls into three divisions which mark the first part of his reign.

  • The rule of the Duke of Buckingham, 1620 - 28. This includes the last part of the reign of James I (see E2).
  • The period of Charles I's personal rule, 1629 - 40.
  • The Long Parliament, i.e. the first two years until the outbreak of the Civil War, 1640 - 42.
