It is becoming increasing obvious that Child Development is an important subject that covers many areas of the curriculum, including Science, Personal Social, Health, Education (PSHE). It is essential that it is taught to young people if they are to become effective parents in today's materialistic world where there is often little or no family support to help bring up a young family. This teaching material has been developed to provide easy-to-use Child Development projects covering a wide range of topics for any Examining Board. They offer quality, specialised work for G.C.S.E., G.N.V.Q., Child Development and Nursery Nursing courses. Alternatively this material could be especially useful in a hectic department when a member of staff may be absent for a single or several sessions and work is required which forms part of the planned syllabus. Most importantly, these projects have been designed for a wide range of abilities and are suitable for both girls and boys. Each project has a full set of photocopiable worksheets that give clear instructions to staff on how to administer this work, together with discussion points, visual aids and a list of the resources required.
The students' worksheets set out the brief together with a format showing how it is to be fulfilled successfully through a structured thought process which considers all options available. These worksheets have been designed to be flexible so that any project could be developed and extended. The material could provide a valuable contribution to the students' studies in the Caring Professions such as Nursery Nursing, Child Minders, and Paediatric Nursing.
