A set of Citizenship alphabet photocopiable masters for classrooms designed to contribute to literacy development and to add visual stimulus by displaying essential vocabulary in an attractive and easily absorbed format. The alphabet supports developing literacy skills for ages 8 to 16 by matching vocabulary with appropriate graphics for easier interpretation of words. A complete alphabet is usually placed around the room to aid alphabetic sequencing and to act as visual aids for the teacher, but they can also be used as flash cards. The complete set consists of 40 black and white A4 masters with clear line drawings. Extra letter posters above 26 give alternative words for some letters in order to allow the display to be tailored to the age group or teaching topic. Each letter poster is designed for copying and hand colouring by children to increase their sense of ownership before laminating or mounting them on card for display. Alternatively, posters can be put into A4 plastic folders fixed to notice boards to make them easy to change and focus attention on them form one lesson to the next. The specially designed Sassoon font is used throughout to support handwriting development for some pupils and maintain clarity.
