Design & Technology: A Complete Course for Secondary Schools

These new photocopiable books make a complete course in Design & Technology for years 7 to 11, leading directly into GCSE. The books follow a common approach for each year, using a linear model of a design process, and the course includes work in wood, plastics, metal, graphics and electronics. The course is divided into a series of three projects per year, corresponding with the three terms, and is based on one 60 minute lesson per week for years 7, 8 & 9 and two for years 10 & 11.

Each year's course work is discrete and forms a separate book but is designed to provide continuity and reinforcement of skills and knowledge throughout each Key Stage. The KS3 projects form the broad topic of Resistant Materials and the KS4 projects form the broad topic of Product Design. The course for year 11 relates directly to GCSE examination syllabi.

The coursework material for each project comprises: outline lesson notes for every lesson, expectations for students' project folders and resource material which may be used as photocopied handouts or OHTs.

The course is proven and results at GCSE and beyond by students who have followed it are consistently comparable with national results. The photocopiable books cater for a range of teaching styles and can be used by specialist and non-specialist teachers alike.
