English Key Skills Projects is an exciting, new, resource for 11 to 14 year olds, that consists of three long projects that have been carefully designed to encourage the students to learn and practice many of the National Curriculum key skills for writing. At all stages their progress through the many, varied activities in projects on the themes of Narrative, Fame and Presenting Information is framed as a logical, relevant development from the original, compelling stimulus. The projects encourage a variety of teaching and learning styles and include key skills such as writing stories, plays and screenplays, advertisements, diaries, biographies and note taking. As the projects develop they go on to cover the key skills of writing letters, reviews, discursive essays and pamphlets and conducting research.
Each stage of every project is accompanied by interesting and illuminating examples with hints and tips on organisation, and suggestions for the teacher for further development and links across the curriculum. All of the projects have been tried and tested in schools and can be completed successfully by students from a wide range of abilities.
