English in the Classroom is a resource which has been designed and used effectively by an ESL teacher as a practical, easy to follow, basic programme for students who speak little or no English and is designed to meet the needs not only of non-native speakers of English but those who have entered late into the education system.
It is a systematic attempt to ensure that students can swiftly acquire basic literacy skills and gain a certain degree of self-assurance. The programme is divided into ten units. At the end of each Unit there is an assessment page which allows both student and teacher to record what progress has been achieved.
The topics that are studied in English in the Classroom enable students who are new to the educational environment to gain social skills and become familiar with key basic concepts of the National Curriculum.
