This resource focuses on the teaching of spellings and definitions specific to English classes to 11-14 year olds. It also has work on general spellings and definitions which enables the resource to be used to address literacy across the curriculum.

It contains words identified by the Department for Education and Skills (DfEs) as causing common errors. All pupils will know how to spell some of the words, but this pack will enable accurate identification and monitoring of the progress made in reading and spelling those words targeted. An activity helps pupils learn the words and cloze exercises and a matching activity aid understanding of the words. Word sheets provide an ideal, yet simple, classroom display resource and can be used to aid memory and to help learn spellings.
