For and Against - PSHE

This booklet will change students' attitudes to PSHE at GCSE. The booklet has 11 provocative topics with 22 short 'For and Against' essays. Finally students must see that there are two sides to each issue! The 'truth' for most people will normally lie somewhere between the two essays. Some of this material is available elsewhere in other volumes published by Classroom Resources but those resources contained significant material not relevant to this subject. This new selection is specifically relevant to PSHE and includes new material.

• There are also linked comprehension questions, ICT extension activities, discussion questions, film suggestions, quotes to think about and other activities designed to engage students with the issues.

  This resource can be used in a variety of ways including to follow on from previously discussed material, as a way of opening key issues, with the Drama Classes or Debating Clubs, as speeches for assemblies, to follow key speakers, as speeches to be analysed and it can be used to explore key events in the media. The sheets are self-explanatory and so can be left as 'cover work'! It can work well with parts of English, RE and Citizenship. It is ideal for the more able student.
