All mathematical progress is dependent on a pupil’s number work. Whilst you can try and make fractions more interesting by relating them to real life, this does not always work successfully with younger pupils. The best way of getting younger pupils to practice their number work is to connect it to something they find enjoyable.

The worksheets in this pack come with a dot-to-dot puzzle that allows the pupil to mark their own work by joining the answers up, in order, to make a picture.

The picture means that the teacher does not have to mark large numbers of answers just one single image and the pupils get a smart picture to colour in for display work.

These worksheets have been designed for use with pupils in the age range of 9 to 13 years of age (depending on ability) with as little reading as possible (so that poor readers are not discouraged from tackling the problems). The pack has been arranged so that question sheets and dot to dot sheets can be photocopied separately, back-to-back or on a single-sided sheet of A4.

The topic of fractions is one of the stumbling blocks in mathematics. The sheets in this pack make each small step, in the students progress, simple. This pack makes learning easier for the pupil and easier for the teacher.

Each of these sheets has been tried and tested in an ordinary classroom and has proved successful (kids love them).
