This is a three year gymnastics scheme in which a wide range of gymnastic areas and skills are explored and progressively developed.
In addition, the author has provided a 'Four Star Gymnastics Awards' scheme for each year in the form of a 'tick box' chart. The scheme focuses on the theme 'Locomotion, Flight and Balance' (11-12 years) and 'Symmetry and Asymmetry' (12-13 years). Within these, basic through to advanced floor and vaulting skills are taught, alongside creative tasks. Students work towards a particular star award level from the outset, and the culmination of the six week course is a composition task, in which students incorporate the various skills that they have learned into a creative sequence with certain required elements.
In the scheme for 13-14 year olds, three different areas of gymnastics are covered. The first two are 'new,' and as such it is hoped that they will be more motivated for this particular age group. Within the Rhythmic Gymnastic module, students learn basic skills with four main apparatus. In Sports Acrobatic work, small and large group balances are explored via work cards developed from various literature resources. Both these modules finish with an assessment of creativity in small groups. The third module; Vaulting, enables students to build upon vaulting skills already learned from the two previous years.
Certificates for each level within the awards are also available, which teacher may photocopy/print directly onto coloured card for individual students.
Award certificates also included (black and white with book or in colour on CD) - needs Publisher 2000.
