The History Overheads Series

These overhead transparencies use colour pictures to bring ideas to life and present complex themes in a simple way. Students could copy the overheads once the ideas have been discussed, they could be used for title pages, or they could be employed to stimulate discussion as students respond well to pictorial stimulus. This teaching and learning style has been recommended by many OFSTED inspectors, who like to see a variety of media used in the presentation of historical material.

History Overheads can now also be bought as PowerPoint presentations on a CD-ROM. Each slide covers a key area of historical study as laid down by the QCA schemes of work in a simple colourful way using cartoons and diagrams accessible to all abilities. The presentations can be used in a slideshow on desktops if copied onto the school network, or be presented using a LCD projector. Each slide is accompanied by a suggestion on how it can be incorporated into a lesson, or with answers to questions posed on the slide.
