Hollywood Nights is a case study in office applications using IT to support GCSE ICT and GCSE Office Applications syllabi. Based on IT, it provides a set of differentiated tasks which pupils complete using worksheets, data supplied on disk and standard Microsoft Office applications.
All the tasks require pupils to have access to a PC and are designed so that pupils can work at their own pace. Most of the tasks will take about an hour to complete although some of the most advanced ones could take longer. Work in progress can be saved on disk for later completion.

The tasks in Hollywood Nights are based around a video rental shop. They include designing a letterhead, merging information from a database into a letter, linking with spreadsheets, and creating a newsletter.
Hollywood Nights CD ROM contains worksheets, course booklets, schemes of work (with alms, learning outcomes, National Curriculum Programme of Study and Attainment Target indicators), assessment information and index of files, along with a pupil section containing all the data and information needed by students to complete the tasks.
