This material has been developed to help teachers make informed assessments as to the level of ability in ICT of students. The materials are designed to be used by teachers of incoming Year 7 students. The build up activities provide a common grounding in all five attainment strands for ICT and the subsequent assessment exercises enable teachers to assess whether students are just below, at or just above the expected level for ICT at the start of KS3. The materials are aimed to engage students and provide structured and interesting material with which to work. Elements of the pack can be used to support the QCA scheme for work.
All exercises cover the five attainment strands. Each assessment activity straddles all five strands and provides comprehensive assessment material with which to assess students. The material has been designed to appeal to students, but also to broaden their general knowledge through the use of interesting scenarios.
Each strand has a full set of fully photocopiable resources that have been designed to be accessible to all students through the use of interesting scenarios and clear graphics. The build up exercises are intended to be used as practice for all subsequent assessment activities. The assessment activities are also fully photocopiable. Few additional resources are required and these are clearly listed with each activity. Teachers will need to provide appropriate email, word processed, graphic, and other information, as indicated.
The materials have been prepared using Microsoft Office 2002 (XP).
