The author/artist's experience as an art-instructor within the Learning Support Unit of a challenging secondary school has convinced him of the value of humorous cartoons as a means of communication. This 'cartoon-and-caption' resource is intended to encourage page by page classroom instruction and discussion amongst pupils in Year 7 and above. 'Dos' and 'Don'ts' are portrayed clearly and humorously as a 'fun' guide to what will be expected of pupils on entering secondary school. The captions are short, to the point and their message unambiguous; pupils of all abilities will enjoy this resource but those with behavioural problems and others with learning difficulties will be the main beneficiaries. Each page has ample space in which to add notes and any extra instruction deemed necessary by the teacher. This resource is a novel - possibly unique - aid to laying down the rules through a meaningful yet subtle medium.
