This is an intermediate workbook of Japanese, ideal for study to A2 level. It includes a chapter on how to deal with A2 level questions, which provides readers with techniques and strategies for the A2 level examination. It comprises a comprehension section, a translation section, and an essay writing section. The translation section shows a step by step process for translating English sentences to Japanese. This technique will be clearly understood by readers. This chapter also outlines some linguistic theories about English and Japanese language in terms of syntax. Chapter 1 is followed by comprehension and translation exercises. It offers ten pairs of comprehension and translation questions. Each pair has the same topic, and the topic areas of these questions are consistent with the topic list produced by examination boards. There are two levels of questions so that learners can start from a relatively basic level. There is, furthermore, a chapter of kanji practice, with a list of kanji for AS and A2 levels provided. In this chapter, readers can practice the use of kanji contexts. Kanji is used in compound form, rather than individually, therefore students can learn kanji in a natural way. For the AS kanji, each page give 15 kanji to learn. Some of them are basic, hence for writing, and others are for recognition. The A2 kanji section has longer texts, and they are for recognition. Kanji used is in accordance with the kanji list provided by all examination boards.
