This brand new resource for classes has been prepared after many requests from music teachers who have been using the earlier publication Keyboard for Classes. It is the first of a progressive series of graded sets of pieces, which will give the essential practice materials for students preparing for examinations in the keyboard.

In addition, these attractive arrangements will give all sorts of excellent performance pieces for keyboard players, offering classical music arrangements, folk music arrangements and brand new pieces, which have been especially composed to meet the demands of the various levels.

Assessment materials are tailored to the various levels, and are offered together with optional classroom pages for use by the teacher. A paper on the principles of assessment is included, and this ties in with the new publication Guide to Assessment in Music by the same author.

To make life easier for teachers working in a mixed-ability classroom environment, all the pieces are given in standard notation and also in note-named notation, for optional use.

To aid the understanding of chords, a keyboard chord bank is included. This short dictionary includes most of the chords, which are required by keyboard players. It might well be useful in other teaching contexts also.

This resource has been prepared especially for Classroom Resources by a keyboard specialist with many years of teaching experience, and it is hoped that Keyboard for Classes Grade 3 will a most useful follow-on to the access resource Keyboard for Classes.
