This material is designed to introduce less able students and those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to the themes and issues surrounding tourism.
The content has been designed to cover a range of key topics and case studies for the tourism component of the latest Edexcel and AQA Applied GCSE courses in Leisure and Tourism. However, the resource has many applications to other Travel and Tourism courses at ages 14-16 and Geography courses from ages 11 - 16 too.
Each worksheet in this collection is clearly presented with new key words highlighted and explained. Carefully structured activities use writing frames to guide less-able and SEN students through each new topic, allowing them to extend their vocabulary and explain their views with confidence. To encourage independent learning, two research frameworks are provided which allow students to explore the case studies further and encourage them to experiment with different outcomes to suit their personal learning style.
Each worksheet is easily photocopied and most activities can be completed on the sheet. Meanwhile, the use of additional resources has been minimised and where internet access or additional stationery is needed, this is noted on the contents page. At the end of the collection, two interactive activities allow students to reflect on what they have learnt and focus their revision on the areas that need most attention. The collection provides an exciting and engaging way of introducing students to the subject of tourism.
