These PowerPoint presentations have been developed primarily to help students following the Edexcel Single and Double Science Award modular course (syllabus B), but they can also be used for other syllabuses as they cover most of the core work on Waves for National Curriculum KS4.
They provide informative, stimulating and motivating material through their imaginative and creative use of animations, sound effects, photographs and a range of activities for students of widely differing abilities. On virtually every slide there are 'action buttons' which allow the teacher the flexibility to change the direction of the lesson and tailor it to the needs of the class.
These presentations can easily be used by those with limited ICT experience and will be enjoyed by science specialists and non-specialists alike. There is a strong emphasis on linking science to its applications in everyday life.
This is an integrated package which combines experiments, investigations, questions, simulations, discussion opportunities as well as extension work for the more able pupils. Further issues such as citizenship and the promotion of information technology skills arise naturally from the material and are addressed.
The PowerPoint presentations can be used to teach the syllabus to a class from a computer linked directly to a projector or with a computer, projector and interactive whiteboard. An alternative is for students to work through the slides by themselves. This can be useful for a student who may have missed a lesson and needs to catch up on the work. In addition, it can be used as an aid to revision.
Important: These PowerPoint presentations are designed to be used with the Microsoft Office XP 2002 version of the PowerPoint program. Earlier versions do not support animations, etc that are used throughout the presentations.
