Let's Talk and Let's Talk Again
These resources are a teaching aid for 14 -16 year old students who find reading and communicating difficult. Both these resources are a trio of short scripts to read in small groups. The aim of the material is to encourage less able, less fluent or reluctant readers to read aloud and discuss. This will lead to improved communication skills and greater confidence.
A shared reading of the scripts will also encourage improving readers to be involved in simple role-play and see a situation from another person's point of view. This should lead to development of the ability to argue, persuade and explain.
Each script has been written in carefully controlled language, which is accessible and relevant. The stories are simple but strong and are about young people and their lives today. They are followed by suggested questions, which will prompt discussion and opinion.
The material has been tried and tested in a large number of lessons and has provided a popular and effective way into talk and discussion.
