Major Divisions of Christianity is aimed at GCSE full and short courses. It traces the splits that have developed in the Christian Church since the death of Jesus. It examines how one, universal church, separated into three branches: Roman Catholicism, the Orthodox Church and the Protestant Church; and from this several thousand denominations sprouted. Topics include: the early church, the Great Schism of 1054, the Reformation and the birth of the Protestant Church, the differences in beliefs and practices of the different branches of Christianity and their denominations. The text is written in a lively and accessible style, supported with key visuals and a variety of pupil activities to help pupils engage with the material.
