Following the success of the first Puzzles, Problems and Posers, this handbook for 11-14 year olds is a collection of the same kind of short, enjoyable language activities that are particularly useful for more able students who have completed class work before others. It also serves well to provide instant cover lessons in various subjects. The graded sections concentrate on developing skills of close reading and comprehension, and look at different types of language and register and give practice in their use and comprehension. Each section includes advice on teaching and learning techniques and suggestions for how the work may be developed and used across the curriculum. An answer section allows the students to mark their own or each others' work should this be felt to be appropriate.
