This very comprehensive package is designed to create a recording system to create achievement profiles for a whole school across the entire curriculum. The National Curriculum Records of Attainment Document has been designed to meet the required long-term assessment for every pupil through every key stage.

Presented in convenient booklet form, the record should stay with the pupil and transfer with them throughout their school life. Every level description for every National Curriculum subject has been broken down into individual statements, which are then presented into a clear, easy to read format, with straightforward tick boxes for attainment and space for a comment if required. Once completed, the format will allow teachers who are making an assessment to quickly see which level description is the 'best fit' for the pupil, (a requirement at least at the end of key stages), and will provide clear information for teachers new to the child, (for example when the child changes schools). The tracking of National Curriculum levels can be a daunting experience, especially when the children change schools or staff leave and records go astray. This document keeps everything in one place for all time. When children transfer, the document simply transfers with them and the new school will have valuable and relevant information to work with immediately.

The NCARD will allow teachers to record or refer to pupil performance quickly and easily, and makes it possible to track achievement over the short and longer term. Being easily transportable, the booklets can be taken away to be completed, kept in a special room, or stay with form tutors. They can be sent to new schools, taken to planning meetings or reviews, have relevant sections photocopied from them. There is no need to wait for access to a particular computer to use these booklets - all that is required to produce an individual record is a pen or pencil and a few minutes of time, and the record exists for all time. It can be updated at any time, is useful for planning reviews, reports and other assessment, parents evenings etc. and with its simple tick system is easily understood by any viewer. Every child at every school should have one!
