Network English is a thrilling new CD-ROM based course that encourages young people to explore and utilise the riches of the Internet while developing their skills and expertise in English, word-processing and desktop publishing.
Created for pupils aged 11-14. Network English provides no less than 50 units of assignments, graduated in difficulty from Year 7 to Year 9. Projects, or Network Challenges, which can be undertaken by exploring and using the resources of the Internet, then extend these activities.
The assignments should also play a part in teaching good practice in Information Technology across the curriculum and many teachers are likely to learn as much as their pupils as they work together through the challenges.
Network English is infinitely flexible. Teachers may add to, amend, or wholly revise the challenges. They may also new websites to those listed. In this sense Network English is as evolutionary as it is revolutionary.
In addition, teachers will find on the CD-ROM the folder Network - Text Only. This provides the entire course, other then the Network Challenges, in assignments intended to appeal to pupils at Key Stage 3; they are intended to challenge and engage in their own right; they meet the requirements of National Curriculum English; they are progressive in levels of difficulty; and they are supplied in a two-page print-out format alongside the full blown edition intended for computers.
