This resource is primarily designed to fulfil the requirements for the Open College Network Level 1 French Unit 1: Self, Home & Accommodation, which provides accreditation for many courses offered in Further Education Colleges, Tertiary Colleges and Sixth Form Colleges. However, the learning outcomes could be used with any evidence-based French Course.

Each student must submit a portfolio of evidence, which will be scrutinised by internal and external moderators in order to obtain certification. This resource provides busy French teachers with a set of ready-made learning outcomes, which can be used individually or combined into a portfolio for moderation. A title page is included for this purpose.

Each learning outcome has space for the student's name and feedback from the course tutor as required by the Open College Network and others. It is also labelled with the unit title and the learning outcome number for easy reference by the moderator. The tasks mirror real-life situations and in most cases there is a choice of learning outcomes graded to match the ability of individual students and to provide for differentiation in the classroom as required by both OFSTED and ALI. Some tasks will stretch and satisfy the brighter students while more elementary tasks will encourage the less confident learners. The learning outcomes also provide for the assessment of speaking, reading and writing skills as required in most in most language courses.

Unit One, Self, Home and Accommodation (French) is aimed at Adult and Young Adult beginners and consists of a variety of lively oral activities including interviews, role plays and pair work as well as a few reading activities and a little elementary writing. As the student progresses, the learning outcome tasks become increasingly complex.
