Parent Teacher Interview Training - A whole school resource on CD-ROM.
Until now, there have been few, if any, resources for assisting the younger teacher in their responsibilities with respect to parent teacher interviews. This new CD not only assists teachers but also validates the critical nature of the process to more experienced staff.
Used by individual teachers or as a basis for a more formal presentation, this CD offers a full multimedia treatment with text, audio, photo and video enhancing the content. An interactive element allows a full participation.
ContentPurpose - The disk confirms the need for parent-teacher interviews from a number of perspectives. It is essential, especially for younger teachers, to have a clear understanding of the need and agendas behind meeting the parents and of the professional responsibilities staff carry.
Preparation - The CD focuses on the need for effective preparation and presentation on the part of staff. Such areas as detailed knowledge of the student, their grades from staff records, the appearance of staff and physical preparation of the interview space are all addressed.
Scenarios - The heart of the CD is the presentation of 21 different scenarios taken from actual experience that a teacher could realistically face. The user of the CD is invited to select from a choice of responses for each. A validation and appraisal is given of the range of responses.
Review - Following the interviews there is a unique opportunity to look for enhancements and new direction in one's own teaching. Strategies and directions are highlighted as part of the overall process.
This CD is unique in providing a multimedia resource to optimise the parent-teacher process. By examining each of these areas teachers will be better equipped for the interviews themselves and will have increased potential to derive full benefit from the process and what have been discussed.
