The fundamental aim of Poems for Projects is to provide a poetry input to any class project and thereby to facilitate the idea of 'English throughout the curriculum'. Each unit contains a selection of 10 poems on a specific theme, followed by a work-page devoted to each individual poem. The 'work-page' ideas are intended as lines of development mainly for the literary aspect of English. However, they may well lead into other areas of the curriculum which will, in turn, create others uses for language and literacy skills.

Activities are designed for use in whole-class and group teaching and to appeal to a mixed-ability class so that no child will feel excluded from these literary expeditions. Poems for Projects helps to make English and poetry meaningful to the rest of the curriculum.
