Puzzles, Problems and Posers is a new photocopiable resource for 11-14 year olds, that is a useful tool that may be used for extending able and/or hardworking pupils who have completed classwork ahead of others, or to provide good, instant cover lessons in subjects such as English, Languages, PSHE or registration periods. The three sections of graded language activities cover the recognition of the structure, meaning and variety of words, and use problem solving, research and the development of lateral thinking to promote techniques for learning spelling, self-correcting and re-drafting and extending vocabulary.

Each section includes advice on teaching and learning techniques, although most activities require the bare minimum of teacher direction, as well as suggestions for potential development where the lessons may be used to stimulate longer-term projects. A photocopiable answers booklet is also included, to allow students to mark their own or each others work.
