Role Cards in Drama is a new photocopiable resource which develops skills in improvisation, adapting and sustaining a role, self confidence, concentration, use of imagination, creativity, problem solving and many aspects of language and communication. The lessons do not require the students to possess sophisticated drama skills and may be taught by specialists and non-specialists alike.
Each activity includes enough ideas to assign a separate role to each individual member of even the largest groups. None of the lessons require any resources other than space for the group to work together. The lessons cover topics such as speech, characterisation, performance, social skills and story telling and many opportunities exist for links to be made right across the curriculum. The lessons are ideal for giving the students opportunities for fulfilling National Curriculum targets in Speaking and Listening, Working in Groups and Giving Presentations.
