Science for You is intended to provide detailed suggestions and lesson notes for teachers involved in trying to enrich the curriculum for children with mild learning difficulties. For this reason, Science for You does not demand literacy or numeracy skills and consists chiefly of practical experimental work, which can for the most part be carried out in the ordinary classroom or the school grounds.

The pack is intended to present clear suggestions and practical work which may lead (and indeed should lead) into various fields with which students will be familiar. The teacher should then be left free to use the material exactly as it stands, to add to it, or to modify it according to the abilities of his/her students.

The main thrust of Science for You is to try to use the qualitative approach to phenomena that affect us all in order to stimulate the critical and analytical faculty of students with special needs.
