Starting Points for RE is a photocopiable book that gives different ideas for work in RE. It covers ideas for group work, research and assessment and includes sections in which pupils are encouraged to assess their own work. Many of the ideas are open ended and can be developed as far as the teacher wishes.

The tasks are research based and involve pupils finding out information for themselves within specific guidelines. The information found is then to be presented in a variety of formats: display work, booklets, class presentations, videos, information booklets for children, or even as models. The emphasis is on student based learning, on enjoying what is being produced and on working together.
