Written for Special Needs students with behavioural difficulties, this versatile resource covers a variety of topical themes. It encourages positive interactive group work skills and raises self-esteem. Teamwork activities were developed for the NOCN Social and Life Skills course at entry and level 1. They are suitable for all ages including students with limited English language skills.

All material has been designed to be relevant to the lives of students in order to develop oral skill and self-awareness. Projects are presented to stimulate discussion and the written or taped evidence of this can be used for exam portfolios. Scenarios and role-play, discussions and surveys, comic word play and design planning have a creative visual element threaded through the worksheets. This provides a lively and diverse approach to the subject, with artwork increasing self-confidence.

The worksheets consist of 30 interactive exercises. Students can either work in small groups or as a whole class. Projects are presented to stimulate discussion.

These varied group work exercises, ranging from serious discussion topics to fun, imaginative themes, encourage inclusive behaviour and an exchange of ideas. Students learn from one another how to develop new coping skills, including planning, problem solving, and assertiveness and listening skills. Exercises are also suitable for other personal and social skills projects or courses, including Key Skills. Straightforward language and font are used throughout and basic art materials are standard for general classroom use. No specialist equipment is required unless the teacher decides to develop a particular theme for use as a visual display based on a topical issue.
