Pack F3 - The Protectorate
Following the career of Oliver Cromwell, to be used in conjunction with relevant sheets from Pack F2, namely Battle of Edgehill, New Model Army, Marston Moor, Naseby etc. Cromwell's campaigns in Scotland and Ireland, 1649 - 51 have not been included but the Trial and Execution of Charles I, 1648 - 49 and the vain attempt of Charles II to recover the throne, culminating in the Battle of Worcester and his dramatic six weeks escape as a hunted fugitive, 1651, are dealt with in some depth. Finally General Monk is introduced, whose call for a freely elected parliament led irrevocably to the restoration of the monarchy.
