Departmental Handbook
£46.99
Subject: Deputy Head / Curriculum Planning / AdministrationLevel: SecondaryAge Group: 11 - 14Order Number: 3091
This resource is invaluable to all Heads of Department. It is written by someone who ran four departments over many years. It uses examples that have received 'outstanding' comments from OFSTED and whose inspectors asked for a copy to use for training purposes as they were so impressed! There are many examples of good practice and policies here (drawn from Science, EBD, English...), all suitable for modification by Heads of Department. All the groundwork is done for you, all you need to do is modify for your particular circumstance. A particular strength is the way the resource shows the handbook, and subject audit, as a process and in context.
There are four parts to this resource - background, a departmental audit, a departmental handbook and two appendices, including a major one on the tricky issue of 'gifted and talented students' and the other on OFSTED concerns which the audit and handbook will help meet. Obviously, however, not all parts are equally important but all departments and subject specific demands are not all dealt with in this one generic guide. Even if you already have a handbook you need this resource!
