This resource offers 6 pieces of flexible classroom ensemble, whose parts range from very easy to moderately demanding.

The pieces may be used with classroom instruments only, or with a mix of classroom and other instruments. B flat parts are included, and all parts are given with and without note names for convenience in the classroom.

The pieces might be played as melodies alone, using instruments in C with an accompaniment on piano, electronic keyboard or guitar using the chord symbols where provided.

The pieces might be used as 2-part ensemble, using the soprano and the melody parts alone. This approach might be easier to manage in certain teaching situations.

The materials in this Project Pack have been arranged so as to be accessible and enjoyable, and teaching approaches have been suggested.

Down on the Beach is set in Latin-American style

Music Box Waltz is very easy, using just 4 notes in the melody

The River is Wide and the Canon by Thomas Tallis afford a look at canon

Skimming the Waves is a little waltz in G, set within an octave

Strolling in the Park is a happy little swing piece in C

Assessment materials are included, and these link clearly the task levels of the pieceto the levels of achievement. These materials are clearly laid out in box-grid form, and may be used by both teacher and student.

This resource is aimed toward age 11 - 14, but may also work successfully with other age groups in certain classroom situations.
