Online Catalogue | Secondary 16 - 18 | Music | Writing Middle 8 bass lines in 32 bar song form
Subject: MusicLevel: SecondaryAge Group: 16 - 18Order Number: 11046
Amongst the most popular options for Unit 2 (AS) and Unit 5 (A2) - Edexcel Board - is the writing of middle 8 bass lines in 32 bar song form. These units require students to fill in the bass line of the Middle 8 (or 'B' section)of a classic 32 bar song form jazz piece. The first eight bars, with chord symbols and bass line, are given as a lead sheet in the bass clef. At AS level the chord symbols of the Middle 8 are given and students are assessed on their completion of the bass line. At A2 level students are assessed on their completion of the chords in the middle 8 and an appropriate accompanying bass line.
This book has 50 examples of Middle 8 exercises as they appear in the exam - 25 for AS and 25 for A2. Space is provided in the Middle 8 section for students to complete their work on the sheet itself. Care has been taken to include exercises in different time and key signatures.
The exercises are differentiated to allow students to work towards the required standard of the exam. The book also contains a teachers' guide, notes on chord labelling and some suggested answers as an exemplar.
All the exercises all reproduced using professional quality notation graphics.
