This is the third in the ¡Buen Viaje! series of the support material to help teach the Unit 2 essay writing module. The material covers all five topics, Mass Media, Pollution, Conservation and Environment, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Spain and Europe, the Spanish Speaking World. This booklet is designed to help teachers and students make use of AQA’s Preliminary Material designed for Unit 2 of the Spanish AS examination. Students are required to read preliminary texts relating to five topics chosen by the Board and in the examination they are asked to write two essays of equal length in 1½ hours. The texts have been exploited by designing questions that imitate those in Unit 1 with some additional ones to help reinforce vocabulary. There are also vocabulary sections, which will give students a list of words they may not know and laid out in a way, which should make revision easier. Further extra ideas are supplied from authentic Spanish sources in ‘sound-bite’ or note form to assist the students with ideas and expressions on each of the areas as homework practice and as a basis for their essay in the examination. Students may quote other sources to be awarded extra marks and included are some extension ideas in the notes. Students also must give their opinion on the topic with justification and ideas are included on how to achieve this. There is a Teachers Pack with model answers, which teachers may like to put on acetate for the class to copy. We wish you ¡Buen Viaje! in AS Spanish.
