This is a fully editable world map for use in Microsoft Publisher. Every country is outlined and filled with the county’s flag/coat of arms (except for Nairnshire, Peebleshire, Selkirkshire, Renfrewshire and Invernesshire which are filled with the Scottish Coat of Arms as these counties do not have an individual design). This can simply be printed as an effective inspirational and informative resource or can be used for a range of teacher-led or pupil-led activities in Geography, History and Citizenship. This resource can be used throughout the Key Stages. At a time when teaching and learning is often most effective when using ICT, the editable world map will be revolutionary in a number of ways – not least in reintroducing the knowledge of location – a skill which has greatly diminished in recent years. For instance, the map can be edited to show a range of themes such as county demographics. Also, the outline of the counties could be used in order for the resource to become an ideal digitally editable choropleth map. In Publisher certain sections can be enlarged to show regional/local level. Each county could even be filled with a photograph from that county or, to provide a simple record of the counties an individual has visited or, the counties represented by the birth places of the pupils in your school.
